The Green Market at West Palm Beach is well-liked! On Saturdays, it’s the place to be, so get there early to avoid the lines and get the goods. By 11:00, Johnny’s Chef Luc’s Croissants and Bread are usually sold out. After one bite, you’ll understand why.

Bring Your Bags or BYOB:

They contain far more than a cheap plastic bag, and it’s better for the environment. You will want a very large bag, I promise.

Take a Guided Tour for Palm Beach:

With 110 vendors, the West Palm Beach GreenMarket might be intimidating. For a guided VIP tour, let an expert show you around. You’ll eat a tonne for breakfast, sample conch fritters and Cuban coffee, bite into a Venezuelan arepa, discover the tropical fruits of the area, avoid the crowds, interact with the vendors, hear their tales, and much, much more. Make reservations in advance for the Mornings in the Market Food Tour, as it is a popular event similar to the West Palm Beach Greenmarket.

Taste Novel Foods Palm Beach:

HISTORICAL LESSON:

In 1995, former mayor Nancy Graham was motivated to recreate the public market culture she had experienced in Europe, which gave rise to the West Palm Beach Green Market. “In the green markets I visited, people selling the produce knew their shoppers’ names and the shoppers could ask questions about the products,” the city quotes Graham as saying.

She had a similar idea for West Palm Beach, and in the parking area of Old City Hall, the county’s first weekly public farmers market debuted with 13 sellers.

Even though for the first few weeks city employees bought fruits and vegetables from the grocery store and resold them because no local farmers’ crops were yet ready, it quickly became a part of the weekly routine for the inhabitants.

AN IDEAL HAUL:

Get a draft latte from Pumphouse Coffee Roasters by lining up early. Keep the other hand free for the ultimate portable snacks: a walk-around cone of warm apple cider doughnuts from Cider Doughnuts or a tub of freshly cut fruit from My Exotic Fruits (follow your nose to find the proper booth).

Next, arrange for dinner: Get some fresh asiago gnocchi from Pasta Amore and serve it with handmade pasta sauce from Frik & Frak, olive oil from Olive Oil of the World labelled as “spicy garlic chilli wow,” and a floral arrangement from Love’s Flower Shop for your table.

BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS:

A fiery arena with chorizo, egg, and avocado from TocToc Arepas; an extravagant dish from The Biscuit Lady; or baked goodies with a seasonal flair from The Gourmet Muffin

TAKE-HOME SNACKS: Nisha’s Flavours of India’s samosas and pumpkin paratha with tomato bhaji, as well as prepackaged chips and dips from The Ceviche & Guacamole House

SNAP A PIC FOR THE ‘GRAMME:

Jamal Lake and his crew at Tropical Oasis, Ganache Bakery’s Saturday-morning doppelgänger, will open a fresh coconut for you to taste with a straw. Not only are the freshly roasted sweet or savoury delights from European Chimney Cake enjoyable to eat and unravel, but they also make for amazing Instagram shots.

HIDDEN GEM:

Pascale’s Jams makes artisanal fruit shrubs that are sweet and tangy, which go well with sparkling water for a spirit-free spritz. His fresh fruit jams and mango hot sauce, which are made from hand-picked local mangoes, are also very delicious. All three products make excellent gifts for people who are travelling from out of town and could use a little local love.
